St
Margaret’s possesses a fine four-part choir performing, to
a high standard, repertoire that spans from the 16th
century to the present day.
It is always looking for new members to join, all
voices are needed and no audition is necessary.
The
choir rehearses each Friday from 7:30 to 8:30pm, and usually
sings on Choral Evensong on Sunday evenings (from 6:00 to
7:30pm), although once a month this is Choral Eucharist in
the morning (from 9:30am).
In
addition to the usual offices, the choir sings for all of
the town’s Civic services and occasionally sings Evensong
in Norwich and Peterborough cathedrals.
St
Margaret’s is one of the last churches in this part of
East Anglia to sing full choral Evensong, part of our unique
national heritage.
Paid scholarships available!
St
Margaret’s also offers four paid choral scholarships each
year to young people (aged 16-23).
If
you are interested in being part of this, contact
the director of music, Adrian Richards at anmr@btopenworld.com
or via the church office.
An application form will be sent for choral
scholarships.
